It's nice to be back at it...

Another gorgeous day! Isn't it nice that the very week I get to start riding again I get some absolutely beautiful riding weather. How lucky is that. For awhile this morning I was the only one at the barn, but by the time I left, about 2:00 p.m., there were 5 other riders there soaking up the sunshine. It felt a bit like party time.

I'm still a touch sore from getting back into the saddle but nothing like yesterday. I'm hopeful that in a few weeks time I'll be able to keep my toes up, my lower legs stable, and my shoulders relaxed. Boo was pretty good today. There were a few times he got a little strong on me and I thought "oh sh..., here we go", but a nanosecond later I thought "you better ride this girl" and it all worked out.

I've committed to going into each ride with a plan. Today we worked on suppling, warm up, and looseness. Next ride I'm adding in straightness by making him work off the rail. Will probably have to work a little rider position in there too. Boo might appreciate that!

  1. I'm jealous!
I can't wait to have my baby so I can get back in the saddle too!
    I'm dreading the soreness though. . .
Can't take 9 months off and not expect to be sore!
    Enjoy your riding!!

  2. Baby? When is your baby coming? I love babies, but nowadays they are in my life in the form of grandchildren. I imagine you will be sore once you get back into the saddle, especially in the inner thighs! I'll enjoy my riding and I hope you savor every minute of this time in your life.

  3. I'm expecting a baby boy at the beginning of May. I'm very exited, both about the baby, and about riding again. I have a mustang mare who I adopted from the BLM, and I started riding her last summer. She has the prettiest, float-iest trot I've ever seen, and I can't wait to progress more in her training. I read your post about your grandson interrupting burglers... TERRIFYING!!!!
