Finally hung Boo's photos

Good news! Well, good news for Sarah and Bay! They are first alternate for state in OHSET. Apparently, one of the qualifiers decided not to go...so Sarah and Bay will be going to state after all. That will happen around mid May. Looking forward to the little mini vacation it will give me. Yes, I said mini vacation. I don't have to do any of the work!!! Plus I know a few other people who will be down there including another girl from our barn and my niece from Central Oregon.

This past weekend was the Arabians In Motion horse show at the Mt. Hood Equestrian Center. I volunteered on Friday, and on Saturday Sarah and Bay competed in dressage. They ended up with a 5th place ribbon at 65.6 in their first class and a 1st place ribbon at 65.2 in their second class. Everyone was happy and we got to go home early. It looked to me like the show was going well. I think they had about 80 horses entered. Did anyone else go? If so, how did you do, and what were your impressions?

I got the best news yesterday at the end of my physical therapy appointment. I get to ride Boo tomorrow for 30 minutes. Everyone is still being cautious, but I will take what I can get. I've found myself avoiding the barn because it is so hard for me to stay off the horse. Keep your fingers crossed for me that riding does not cause any kind of set back. I'm thinking it won't as long as I take it slow and careful. I've been feeling a lot stronger this past few days. Not completely normal, but definitely better.

I weigh in tonight...drumroll....

  2. Love Boo's photo gallery.

Briefly saw Sarah today with her new, brace-free smile. I learned that she earned her fifth place in a large open class that included trainers. Way to go! And first place in the Junior class is darned good. The juniors are among the toughest classes at hunter-jumper shows (I assume the same in dressage). Very impressive job for Sarah and Bay.

Looking forward to seeing you in the saddle again!

  3. OK, I know you are in Oregon, but where in Oregon? Someone I know with Arabians does some training with OHSET riders so I was wondering if there was any connection. She is near Salem.

Congrats to your daughter for making it to state. That's pretty cool.

  4. Forgot to mention, I will be crossing my fingers your ride goes OK. I know what it's like not to get to ride when that's what you really WANT to be doing. YUCK!! Hopefully that is over for you and you can get back to riding when you want.

  5. Thanks Wolfie! The ride went great. No pain or setbacks so I'm cleared to do it again. Weigh in went well too. Lost another 2.6 lbs for a total of 19.2 to date!

Mary can't believe how long it's been since I've seen you. Yes, there were three trainers in the top 5 and then Sarah and another young rider. In the junior class she beat the young rider her had come in 4th in her first class. All in all I'd say she had a good day.

Mikael I am just outside of Portland. Sarah isn't my daughter. She is a good friend who is unable to have a horse of her own right now, so she is training on my husbands horse. It's a good thing. Hubby can't ride as often as Bay needs and Sarah is very dedicated. Thanks for the good wishes! I am determined to do whatever it takes to keep riding for as long as I can. I know a woman in her 80s who is still riding once a week!
